Description
Fugue in D Minor from Toccata & Fugue in D Minor BWV 913 (Neuheit Tuba) This Fugue in D Minor is taken from Bach's Toccata and Fugue BWV 913 — not to be confused with the famous Toccata and Fugue in D Minor BWV 565 that everyone knows. An early work, it already reveals the composer's contrapuntal mastery and his taste for expressive chromaticism. In writing that is lively and finely chiselled, the fugue passes its subject from voice to voice, each part entrusted with exposed and captivating sections of counterpoint. The successive entries interweave with inexorable logic, in a constant dialogue where architectural rigour and melodic momentum answer one another. A brilliant and engaging work that gives every performer a leading role.
