Hiros (8Pos) Product Description On the 1st of June 2007, the Rotterdam Trombone Class lost one of their friends. Hironori Suzuki passed away at the age of 28 in Hiroshima, Japan, suddenly from asthma complications. In memory of Hiro, Steven Verhelst wrote a new piece about this very special person: Hiros. The piece starts with material from another piece of Verhelst, 6.35 which was recorded in 2006 with Hiro. Although the introduction shows much similarity with 6.35, it develops fast into a sparkling, joyful theme. Steven Verhelst uses this main theme throughout the whole piece. At first it comes very playfull and energetic, after which it appears in the melodious middle section. Here the beautiful, majestic colors of the trombone come to the front. The entire range of the instrument is being used and the powerful chords make the music sound devine. Hiros is a piece full of energy, joy and hope. The last section of the piece emphases these feelings and bursts out in a spectacular climax. Hiros was written for the International Trombone Ensemble.
