La persistència de la memòria (The persistence of memory) Nen geopolític… (Geopolitic child…) Les temptacions de Sant Antoni T(he temptations of St. Anthony) Pinzellades Dalinianes was written in the summer of 2013 at the request of the magnificent trombonist Ximo Vicedo. The spectacularity of the metal instruments is so extraordinary that I decided to write a virtuoso work for the soloist but also very integrated within the ensemble. The quintet takes on a major role throughout the work. It is a solo concert “against” a powerful and very active ensemble. For reasons of color and contrast, I have found in Dalí’s creations my source of inspiration. The surreal visions of his paintings give rise to different interpretations and all kinds of sound combinations. Salvador Brotons
