Concerto Roskott has fashioned a full-length concerto for trumpet that features the instrument much as it appears in orchestral passages through the centuries. Balquhidder describes it as, "Ranging from the robust to the sublime, the concerto integrates the motor-rhythmic drive of the baroque composer, the steely angularity of Stravinsky and the quiet beauty of Mahler-esque transcendentalism." As further enhancement of the soloist, Roskotts score does not include orchestral trumpets, allowing the solo trumpet to shine through.
