Tribute In the days and weeks following the September 11th tragedy, many composers were compelled to write works for the victims and their families. Phil wrote “The Fountain” two days following the event for a brass quintet concert that took place just five days later. In this recording, Phil has instead dedicated Tribute to those who survived Sept. 11th. The qualities displayed by ordinary people all across America in the days following were qualities thought to be long faded from everyday American society. Extreme courage, bravery, kindness and above all patriotism shone in the American people as it had not in more than a generation. People displaying American flags on their homes, cars, clothing; anywhere they could marked the beginning of a new era. Written in the style of Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, this is a tribute to those Americans who discovered these qualities in themselves that day. I hope we will never again forget they posses them. This was recorded on "The Lyrical Trumpet". Includes trumpet parts in B? and C.
