Adagio & Fugue BWV 564 (8Pos) Ralph Sauer has taken the final two sections of Bachs great organ composition Toccata, Adagio and Fugue in C major, BWV 564, and beautifully transcribed them for 8-part Trombone Ensemble. It is about 9-minutes in length and appropriate for advanced performers. The Adagio is in two sections. The first is almost cheerful in its minor key, but the 2nd part Grave is very dark and brooding. It was used during a satanic ritual scene in the 1934 Karloff/Lugosi film The Black Cat. The Fugue is in 4-voices in 6/8 and bounces along nicely till its dramatic ending.
