The lowest part can be played on tuba, but it really shines when played on bass trombone, as it recaptures the ethereal fretless bass solos. This arrangement allows some space for hard-driving rock improvisation for trombone and then trumpet. Towards the end is an interesting and fun section of mouthpiece buzzing for the trumpets which occurs after where the “and the worms ate into his brain” lyric would be.
