Mein Freund ins Mein! - Aria Duetto from BWV 140 (211) Bachs 1731 creation, Mein Freund ist mein, Aria Duetto from BWV 140 is the 6th movement of the very popular sacred Cantata, Sleepers Awake (Wachet auf). The movement is a love duet between the Soul and Jesus (Trumpet 2 and Horn) with the top part as an obligato over the bouncy bassline. William G. Whittaker calls it "a cantata without weaknesses, without a dull bar, technically, emotionally and spiritually of the highest order, its sheer perfection and its boundless imagination rouse ones wonder time and time again". (Wikipedia). Keith Terrett has beautifully arranged this gorgeous movement for a standard Brass Quartet of 2 Trumpets in B-flat, Horn, and Trombone (with f-attachment). It is appropriate for advanced performers.
