Pavane (413.11) Gabriel Fauré composed the Pavane during the summer of 1887 and it was originally be orchestrated for a chamber orchestra. Although he enjoyed composing and performing it, Fauré was unaware of (or too modest to admit to) the influence the piece would generate. He remarked that it was elegant, but otherwise unimportant. The Pavane was published in 1901 and has remained a cornerstone of the French Impressionist musical repertoire. French arranger Bruno Peterschmitt transcribed the Pavane for a brass tentet.
