Music for King Lear (444.02.Pk.Tambourine) (Debussy wrote this five minute work in 1904 for a production of King Lear. The music is in A-B-A form beginning with a fanfare containing a combination of open and complex chords, giving it an ancient sound. The middle section is a relaxed intermezzo called "Lear Asleep" which is followed by a return to the fanfare. The music has been beautifully scored by Ralph Sauer for a 16-part large brass ensemble with timpani and percussion and is appropriate for advanced performers. Mr. Sauer has dedicated this work to Adolf "Bud" Herseth. )
