Petit poema (Little poem) (Neuheit Ensemble) Work awarded in 1995 with the 1r Premi Frederic Mompou of Concurs de Composició de Joventuts Musicals de Barcelona and premiered by the 2111 Gòtic Brass Ensemble at the XVI Torroella de Montgrí Music Festival (Girona). On the occasion of the premiere, the composer and critic Francesc Taverna-Bech wrote: “The staves of the Petit Poema have the virtue of attracting for their constructive logic and for a remarkable variety of approaches.” (Revista Musical Catalana, agost de 1996). Composed in 1994, this score was awarded in 1995 with the First Prize of he Jeunesses Musicales composers’ competition. Conceived in one movement, in this work several technical and timbric resources of brass instruments are brought into play, searching for colour contrasts. It is caharacterized by the balanced participation of each of the instruments in the quintet.
