Bellstedt unaccompanied Solos The great Dr. Charles Colin referred to these solos by Hermann Bellstedt as “chestnuts”, such a lovely characterization for these rarely seen and undoubtedly overlooked cornet solos. Bellstedt was one of the finest cornetists of his generation, and as you can see by these solos, very technically fit and virtuosic on the instrument. I feel like his studies act as a good starting point, and these solos a perfect finishing school for the Bellstedt approach to musicianship.
