Sonata for Tuba and Piano (The Sonata for Tuba and Piano is a transcription from the earlier sonata for horn and piano which I made to arequest from Sérgio Carolino. Each movement has a completely different character: hieratic and full of counterpoint the first, lyric and nostalgic the second, ryhtmicallycomplex – with a taste of latinamerican folk music the third and last (and a little jazz adding to the mix). Although dificult for both instruments, I wanted, as in the original version, to find an idiomatic writting for the tuba, a related parent to the horn in timbral quality, but a distant cousin in terms of potential and functions.)
