Arabesco IV (Arabesque IV “Quatro Temperamentos de um Esquizofrénico[1]” tries to portray four different personalities of a schizophrenic. These four personalities, signalled in the music sheet with the letters A, B, C and D, allow the interpreter to choose which personality to embody, representing each one of them in its respective section. The shifting between them must be sudden.ARABESQUE IV was commissioned by the excellent tubist and friend Sérgio Carolino to whom I dedicate this work, certainly not because of his schizophrenia. After all, there is a little schizophrenia in all of us.)
