The composer writes - "This Duo Sonata was written in remembrance of Joe Gillis (1923-2008) at the request of his sons, Glen and Richard Gillis. The subtitle "Wisdom of our Fathers" and the movement titles basically speak for themselves, but it is worth noting that both of these men have become highly educated and accomplished musicians through the influence of both their father, Joe, and their mother Thelma Gillis.
