Stax Suite (5Trp) Stax refers to both Stax Records and the Stax Museum of American Soul Music in Memphis, TN. The 3 movements are all reflective of R & B/Pop tunes. Movement 1, "Heritage" is based on and inspired by an Earth, Wind and Fire tune. More specifically, "Heritage" is the title of one of their last albums and that particular movement is derived from the 2nd cut on that album titled Taking Chances. Movement 2, "Serenity" is loosely based on Don’t Stop Believing by Journey. More appropriately, Nash once saw a Facebook post stating that Journeys Don’t Stop Believing was the most stolen song ever. The author of that article also presented a medley of songs that they believed were stolen from Don’t Stop Believing. With that said, that song, as well as the others that the author referenced, are all supported by I-V-vi-IV chord progression, so Nash used it as the basis for this 2nd movement. Movement 3, "Perseverance" is based on the song Give Me Just A Little More Time by Chairman of the Board, a song that was popular in the late 1960s.”
