Trio Sonata #1 This Sonata, originally for organ, lends itself beautifully for trombone trio. Each manual on the organ is represented by one trombonist, and Bachs contrapuntal writing ensures that each player has an interesting part to play. I took a minimalist approach to editing this sonata. The original organ version has no dynamics or phrase markings, and I decided that like Bach, I would leave those choices up to the performers. The outer movements of this three movement sonata can be programmed individually, or the three movements together can be a major work on a recital.
