Sonata Sonata for Euphonium and Piano is intended for performance by euphonium players at the advanced undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels. In keeping with sonata traditions, the fast opening movement is in sonata-allegro form. The slow, expressive second movement begins by presenting a theme and then varying elements of that theme through a series of short sections before finally returning to the theme in its original form. The final movement is fast and in rondo form, with an emphasis on compound meters. The work was composed for professional euphoniumist Erik Lundquist.
