Ave Maria Ave Maria (also known as Bogoroditse Devo) is the sixth movement of Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil, Op. 37, written in 1915. This was a choral setting of the Russian Orthodox All-Night Vigil Ceremony, and is considered to be one of Rachmaninoff’s finest works. This setting for brass quintet should be played slowly, with great emphasis on tuning and legato phrasing.
