Silent Night (Sopran Solo.414.01) (The story of this Christmas tune tells of the malfunction of the church organ due to mouse damage and the substitution of a guitar accompaniment for its first performance. This arrangement was originally made for brass quintet in 1986 for a Christmas cd by The Philip Jones Brass Ensemble. It was more recently recycled as a feature for boy treble with chamber orchestra and this version is now re-arranged for tentet and soprano voice. Performance notes: The 1st trumpet needs a piccolo trumpet. The high passages should be treated as colouration and not played too strongly. Keep the trombone passage work in verse 2/3 clear but gentle. Beware of becoming too loud at the climax of verse 3. The solo line can be played by a flugel if there is no soprano available.)
